Fire Headquarters is located at 100 Court Plaza and is home to all Fire Department administrative offices, the Fire Marshal's Office and Chief 3 (Division Chief), Engine 1 (2004 Pierce Dash Pumper 700 gal capacity, 1500 gpm pump, 25 gal class A foam tank), Ladder 1 (2001 E-One 95’ platform) and Rescue 1 (1994 White-Volvo heavy rescue). L-1 also operates Tac-1 (2004 Ford F-350 4x4 with CAFS).  The Municipal Building was opened in 1924 and has shared the 4-story facility with Police Headquarters since that time.  In 1998, major renovations were begun and upon completion in 2000 the fire companies have enjoyed their new living quarters and offices at one of Asheville’s  Historic designations.
